Looking Back At Your Preliminary Task, What do you Feel You Have Learnt In The Progression From It To The Full Product?



From looking at my main task and my preliminary task, Id say my work has improved and i have used technologies to the advantage which has helped me to do so, creating a symbolic difference.

I feel  my approach to audience research has improved dramatically. I have conducted a number of surveys and full investigated to the full extent of discovering my target audience. I have used a number of different methods to claim this information, but mainly using the Internet, such as FindYourTribe. I feel I have made a huge different in audience research compared to my Preliminary task, i feel i have improved. In my Preliminary task i didn't go into enough detail, in my main task i made it my target to discover as much information about my target audience including their stereotypical style, places, location, food, music and more, so make sure i had every advantage ready for the production planning task for my magazine.

My research and Planning for my main task i feel has also improved, by going in to greater detail i have gained a deeper insight into the unconventional and conventional magazine types, and ways to make my magazine different from the others. I feel that my going into much more dept in my research it opened me up more to the genre of my music magazine and the insight of young adults and teens. This then gave me the upper hand advantage towards my magazine with advertising and the content. I also feel the more research i did into other existing magazines helped improve my magazine to a more professional standard. I feel that by analysing existing magazines helped me follow the conventions to create a more professional look to my magazine - which i didn't achieve in my preliminary task. The planning in my main task also showed significant improvement in contrast to my preliminary task. By going into individual dept of each section of the magazines key features, gave me a better insight into the plan for my magazine design.

When it came to manipulating my photos, i had very little experience which i can see clearly now from my preliminary task. I was already familiar with Picnik which is a photo editing website, but i was oblivious to photo shop and in design c5, so it was a brand new experience to me. When first using these new programmes i found it very difficult to use and it took me along time to adapt to the new tools they offered. After using these applications i am now experience with photo shop and in design c5 which has developed my skills dramatically. The new use of technology improved my main task from my preliminary task significantly, and gave my finished front cover, double page spread and contents page a professional look. These two programmes helped me to develop my layout and images to a new level and gave my magazine the finished look i was intending.

I feel that the photo shoot from my preliminary task to my main task have improved. I have discovered new ways of different camera angles and editing techniques which has significantly changed the magazines style and quality. I feel my skills and knowledge of photo shop and in design c5 have developed my images to a higher standard. My Kodak Easyshare z915 camera which is 10 mega pixels also improved the quality of pictures for my magazine. For the photo shoot in my main task i feel i considered many more facts than i did for my preliminary. I considered factors such as location, camera angles, lighting, costumes, props, setting and colour scheme. By going in to more dept i feel this really created a different to the quality of photographs and gave it a much more professional unconventional look to the magazine. I feel the photographs were indifferent which is the image i wanted to portray as i wanted my magazine to stick to conventions but also be unconventional to stand out; and i feel that the photos for this support it with considering the different factors.

I feel my evaluation skills have improved also. When doing my preliminary task i didn't take into account all the different factors and the amount of detail i can go into when overlooking my work. When i starting my main task through planning and research i became into the habit of evaluating my work regularly and became account of the amount of detail to go into. However I do feel i could have improved my evaluations by using much more terminology to support my evaluation of work. But i feel from practice and regular account to writing evaluation i have improved my writing skills and analysis of my work.
